Carrowniskey Races — The Wet Mirror

The strand is a sheet of water. Four horses drive across it, their reflections running under them almost as clean as the animals themselves. Yellow silks in the middle. Pink and blue out on the right. A dark hill — island or headland — sits on the horizon under a lid of cloud.
This is the frame that looks like nowhere else. Same races, same beach, but the tide has left a mirror and the weather has taken the colour down to pewter and gold.
